It was during this time and on this journey that he developed and absolute passion for learning everything that he could about Veterinary business and then small business and then business in general. His life’s philosophy became C.A.N.I. – Constant And Never-Ending Improvement. This can be seen from his amazing and awesome Business library, CD and DVD collection.
Diederik has an absolute passion for learning and continuing education. He has attended courses on marketing, finance, copywriting, business development, financial planning and investing, public speaking, platform skills and a whole host of others. He has learnt from, been tutored and been mentored by some of the great business leaders of our time – people like Tony Robbins, Jay Abraham, Patrick Lumbroso, Christopher Howard, Peter Sun and Damien Parker (to name a few). As his practice matured and thrived, other business owners approached him with their problems and challenges. The hugely positive results obtained by these business owners quickly lead to more and more people to demanding his services.
So much so that in 2006 he sold a half share in his Veterinary practice (so now he only practices part time), so that he could fully develop his Business Management Services.
Diederik now consults to many small business owners and home business owners and entrepreneurs. Some of these businesses are Veterinary practices, however more and more non Veterinary clients are coming on board. Many ‘general’ Business owners are requesting his services.
Diederik has been a Keynote speaker and presenter at numerous Marketing Seminars and Business Development Seminars Veterinary and non-Veterinary. Diederik has also lectured and taught at Universities and TAFE Colleges. Recently he (in conjunction with one of his mentors – Damien Parker), has developed and hosted a series of 3 day ‘Turbo Charge Your Veterinary Practice’ programs for Veterinarians and small business owners which has revolutionised the businesses (both financially and from a personal point of view), of those business owners that have attended.
Diederik has written and published two highly acclaimed Business Development Manuals (Turbo Charge Your Business and Marketing Your Business). Subsequent to the ‘Turbo Charge Your Veterinary Practice’ workshops, there was a huge demand from those who could not attend and as such he has his Turbo-charge Seminars in Audio format.
As busy as he is with as his workshops, lecturing and writing, Diederik still spends most of his time assisting small business in Australia. This is done in a number of ways; copywriting, in-house consulting or phone coaching. Many clients even engage Diederik on all three levels!
Diederik is a member of the Australian Practice Managers Association, the Australian Veterinary Practice Managers Association and the Positive Business Roundtable (amongst others). He also has a Masters Degree from Murdoch University as well as a Certificate IV in Practice Management from UNE Partnerships.
His ongoing commitment to CANI has lead him to also gaining the following certification; Practitioner of NLP, Master Practitioner of NLP, NLP Trainer, Master of Neurological Repatterning Certificate of Coaching, Master Coach Certification, Master of Ericksonian Hypnosis and Certification in Public Speaking and Platform
Skills. Diederik is also a RIBI licensee.
But more importantly than all the above qualifications is the hard-nosed practicality and business skills that are associated with and come from the ‘School of Hard Knocks’. It is the ‘theoretical and classroom knowledge’ and ‘book learning’ together when combined with the ‘having been through it himself’ skills that has made Diederik such a highly sought after consultant and mentor. And on a personal note – Diederik’s passions include;
• Scuba diving. He has attained the level of Assistant Instructor and Master
Scuba Diver and has dived throughout Australia and the Pacific.
